ShieldRNN: A Distributed Flow-Based DDoS Detection Solution for IoT Using Sequence Majority Voting

Many of the IoT devices connected to Internet are insecure which expose a variety cybersecurity threats. The Distributed Denial Service (DDoS) attack is considered one most critical threats on Internet, blocking legitimate users from accessing online services. Botnets have exploited and used them launch DDoS attacks. Providing with ability detect attacks will prevent being contributors these This paper presents an efficient solution defend against such inevitable proposed consists two parts: node detector server detector. lightweight classifier monitor egress traffic. more accurate that by if it suspected be contributor attack. To develop detector, this proposes ShieldRNN: novel training prediction approach for RNN/LSTM models. We compared ShieldRNN other supervised unsupervised models CIC-IDS2017 dataset we showed outperformed them. Also, set baseline results detection CIC 2022 dataset.
